Clovis-Carver Public Library
CIRCULATION POLICY
A. LOAN PERIODS
1. Books, records, audio cassettes, cameras, and periodicals circulate for two weeks. There is a limit of seven books on one subject. Twelve magazines may be checked out, but only five of the same title. The check-out limit for books on tape and PTCs (children’s books with cassettes) is five. Borrowers may check out a maximum of 30 items at one time.
2. Videocassettes and audio-visual equipment are checked out for one day only. Instructional videocassettes are checked out for a two-or seven-day period. Any borrower holding a valid library card may check out two videocassettes. However, each household or family is limited to six videocassettes at a time.
3. All materials may be renewed by telephone.
4. Books checked out on a two-week loan may be renewed twice, unless another patron has placed a reserve on the same title.
5. High-demand books are checked out for seven days with no renewals.
B. BORROWER REGISTRATION
1. All applicants must fill out a form giving their social security number, driver's license, date of birth and proof of current residence. Any I.D. card, utility bill, letter, etc., will be acceptable, provided it is addressed to the applicant at his or her residence. If the patron has no such confirmation, the library will mail a postcard to him, which can then be presented as proof of current address.
2. The Library Privacy Act protects the confidentiality of personally identifiable information about library users, both in their choice of reading material and in their patron registration. These records may be disclosed only upon the issuance of a court order.
3. Applications and borrower’s cards for persons under 18 years of age must include the signature of a parent, guardian, or other responsible adult. Applicants must be able to sign his or her name on the borrower’s card.
4. All applicants must give the name of at least one contact person who does not live at the same address, who has a telephone, and who can relay messages to the applicant if necessary. All applicants must give a minimum of one local phone number for purposes of contact. (i.e., home, work, relative, neighbor.)
5. Group care facilities (i.e., Headstart, Pathway House, or other day-care institutions which may be licensed by the State) are limited to one card per institution or facility. The name of the organization’s director or owner must be on the card. The number of items that can be checked out is limited as defined in section A.
6. Borrowers' cards expire one year from the date of application, and will be renewed annually thereafter. Borrower information will be verified or updated at the time of renewal.
C. BORROWING RESTRICTIONS
l. Persons needing temporary use of the Library can leave a $25.00 deposit to cover Library use during their stay, or until they meet the
requirements for obtaining a card. Upon returning borrowed materials for the last time, or furnishing the required information, the deposit
will be refunded.
2. Temporary borrowers or those awaiting their permanent card will be limited to three items at a time. A mini-bookstand is available in
the Library for non-resident users.
3. Reference and genealogy materials do not circulate.
